Dar Si Hmad promotes local culture and creates sustainable initiatives through education and the integration and use of scientific ingenuity, within the communities of Southwest Morocco. Our Ethnographic Field School facilitates both short and long term study abroad programs tailored specifically for the interests of our students and professors. Programs always include cultural immersion, as well as the opportunity for service learning, homestays, excursions, and language classes. At Dar Si Hmad, students have a unique opportunity to engage with local populations and participate in locally-driven development initiatives, while also following a course of study aligned with their focus at home. Our courses include hands-on experiential education, first-person tours or labs, critical academic presentations, peer roundtable discussions, and directed reflection activities. Theoretical grounding is vital to meaningful, academic engagement, but seeing the reality of your topic of study is key to engaged, effective learning.
